We had Janet cater our wedding in May. The food was amazing, and cooked to perfection. The staff was very patient, professional and helpful while we readjusted everything due to bad weather. I would highly recommend the spinach salad and the prime rib. We had compliments the whole evening about the food.

"The best food we've ever had at a wedding." That is the comment we heard over and over, and this was coming from our foodie friends in their 30's who had been to their fair share of weddings. The owner of The Catering Gourmets, Janet, is wonderful. If you have the time, talk to her about her story, from being a teacher who loved to cook to following her dream of opening her own catering business. She is a charming person who was friendly, professional, and caring throughout the entire process. We had a fall wedding, so we wanted dinner to be rustic, but very high quality. We did not want to eat food that tasted like it had been mass catered for a corporate event, but rather like it was homemade by your grandma (your grandma who was a crazy good chef, that is). Janet's food hit all of these notes. The ingredients were fresh, the flavors were balanced, and the presentation was beautiful. I'm telling you, this is not typical wedding food. At the tasting, Janet took special care to hear what our vision was. She offered suggestions and made adjustments until she was sure we were happy. We were so impressed by the food, but were concerned that this homemade quality would be difficult to replicate on a larger scale. We had 150 guests that night, but the quality was just as high at our wedding as it was in her little kitchen. Seriously, at some points, as the bride, I was concerned the food had stolen the spotlight on my special day! ;) Janet's staff was awesome to work with. They smiled at everyone as they served them, were flexible when our timeline was pushed back (because of another, not so wonderful, vendor), and seemed to genuinely enjoy being a part of our day. One last thing to mention in this review: the cost. The Catering Gourmets are so reasonable. People were FLOORED when I told them what we paid. Of all the decisions I made for my wedding (except which guy I was marrying), this was the best.

Janet catered our wedding in May. It was awesome, everyone has commented that it was the best food they have had at a wedding ever. The staff was great and kept everything running super smooth. Can't say enough good things about them and Janet. The menu was Pork Tenderloin, Chicken pot pie, still mad my mom sent that home with a cousin afterwards ;-), spaetzle and sauerkraut and carrots in browned butter. We were very sad when we ran out of the spaetzle and sauerkraut a few days later. So good!

Janet catered my wedding and did a fabulous job! We were prepared to spend a good amount of the budget on great food, and we got great food without a big price tag. During the food tasting with Janet we were immediately drawn to her. She was genuinely excited for our wedding, extremely helpful in suggesting rental companies and other vendors and put a lot of thought into our menu and tastings. I'm a vegetarian and Janet was very flexible and presented us with many different ideas for both meat and vegetarian dishes. She listened to and executed specific requests my husband and I had with ease. She was very flexible with her schedule for our two tastings which I appreciated since I live in Washington, DC. She went above and beyond, cutting the wedding cake when it wasn't part of her contract and calling the day after the wedding to talk about the event. My initial thoughts of a buffet weren't very good, but Janet put my mind at ease and set up a beautiful buffet with metal chaffing dishes and her and the servers served the guests their food. As an added touch they plated the salads. The menu was spinach salad, meat and veggie lasagna, meatloaf, cheesy potatoes, grilled vegetable and orzo salad and dinner rolls. The appetizers were antipasta skewers, veggie crostinis, bbq chicken skewers and German meatballs. Our guests LOVED everything! She plated our meals and had them at the sweetheart table for when we sat down. No details slipped her mind! The wedding was four months ago and guests are still talking about how good the food was!

Having grown tired of beef and chicken for family parties, I decided to look at other catering options. I found The Catering Gourmets and really liked the types of food choices they had on their menu. I called and spoke to Janet, the owner, and immediately liked her. I could tell she knew her business and was confident in her food. We arranged a way for me to order a small amount of food and it was awesome. I asked Janet to cater our party, and we couldn't be happier with the outcome! The grilled pork tenderloin was the first to go. Even Grandpa, the pickiest eater, had seconds. I had many compliments on the pot pie and au gratin potatoes as well. You could tell all the food was fresh and hand made. The spinach salad with apples and strawberries was perfect, I think I'm going to be ordering this for a regular family meal. Janet delivered the food hot and on time. I even received several phone calls just to tell me how good the food was and to ask how far The Catering Gourmets will travel. I can't say enough how helpful and nice Janet was and how happy we are with The Catering Gourmets. We will definitely be using them for our next party!

They did my wedding. The food is phenomenal. We had the herb chicken and roast for the entree. The spetzle was so good, people took it home with them. The spinach salad was incredible, and everything is made from scratch here. Janet was awesome and super helpful organizing everything. They were on time, and reasonably priced. I would definitely recommend them and will use them again if I have a need for catering.
